What\'s the best way to remove waterproof mascara?

mascara
estrellita17205 asked:

I have very long, but very blonde, eyelashes. Since I will soon be starting an internship as a junior high teacher, I figure I ought to wear some makeup so I'll look more my age. My problem is that my eyes water really easily and I rub them a lot, so when I wear mascara, I HAVE to wear waterproof. The other problem, is that I then have the hardest time getting the stupid stuff off. In the past I've tried several brands of the stuff that's supposed to remove waterproof mascara, but even the stuff that did get it off was a pain in the butt and not really worth the trouble, which is why I rarely wear mascara now. Isn't there any simple, not icky feeling, effective way to remove waterproof mascara?

Baby oil is the best and least costly.

No not really! cleansing wipes are about the only solution, not flannels they are too harsh on your eyelids

Edit:

Don't put baby oil anywhere NEAR your eyes (read the label people) Also any type of oil shouldn't be used near your eyes. If it gets in you're pretty much out of luck. Rinsing your eye for 15 minutes won't do anything since oil sticks to your eye and water and oil don't mix (take some chemistry classes). However, Baby SHAMPOO works very well on removing any type of eye makeup without irritating your eyes. Try it

I use Oil of Olay clothes and have never had a problem with removing w.p. mascara. U might have to ub a bit but It always comes off, I never have time to do extra steps and I find this is the most effective.

Why not use false eyelashes instead. They glue on and you can take them off easy. They are very inexpensive and you can use them over and over.

I agree..baby oil… but have you thought about having them tinted? It's cheap (bout £5) and lasts around 6 weeks.
I get mine done & swear by it…stops you looking 'bare' but you don't look too made up either (and you can still put ya mascara on when you want a stronger look)

With Clinique's Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup remover. I've been using this remover for several months, and its great because it gets rid off all makeup around the eyes, and you don't need water because its a cream formula that tissues off. Also, its good for sensitive skin and contact lense wearers.

Any eye makeup remover should work… I currently use Avon's which is fairly cheap and works pretty decently. Nivea is also a good one.

You might want to try looking up the website of the mascara brand you use, they might have some tips or their own product you can buy online.

Make sure to use it with the little cotton pads - you can get them at the dollar store probably cheaper than a cosmetics section at a grocery store or drugstore.

Ok I have a perfect Mascara for you!

I have the exact same problem plus allergies for year and last year by chance I found mascara by Trish McEvoy at a local nordstorm

You will love it and it washes off with soap and water !

get stridex pads and at the end of the day take one pad out and wash your entire face. everything comes off and you can even use them in the morning to clear your face before putting your makeup on. you can get stridex pads at walmart in the lotion and perfume isle or at target possibly. i ussually just got to walmart for that kind of stuff. but always always let the stridex dry then put lotion on ALWAYS!! stridex pads take your natural oils away from your face so your face will get extremely oily which will cause acne so always put lotion on. eyeliner, also is removable with lotion, plus it's easy on the eyes so it can get close to your eye to get all the eyeliner off, if you wear eyeliner. just thought you should know that too.

Dove cleansing tissues work for me. I use mascara Monday-Friday and since i cant afford it to run i also use waterproof. Dove is gentle and doesn't "burn" or "itch" when removing the mascara also its not oily like most other products and it wont leave you feeling like you've just washed your eyes with vegetable oil.

If you want to remove the mascara completely use a cotton ball with Jojoba oil or baby oil. But just make sure you son't use too much oil. If you want to get some off arouind your eyes, simply do the same thing just with less oil so you won't look oily around your eyes and so the oil doesn't run through your eyeliner (if you're wearing any). I also suggest buying the MAC waterproof mascara. It's long lasting and very good but it's also very easy to remove with oil.
Good luck!

I have the same problem, and since I wear contacts, my eyes tend to water easily. I have found the best way to remove eye make-up is with Almay Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover Pads. Almay also makes moisturizing eye make-up remover pads, but the oil-free pads work well with sensitive eyes. The best thing about the pads is they don't leave your hands feeling icky. I posted a link from the Almay website below.

Almay also has eye make-up remover towelettes that are specifically for waterproof & long-wearing make-up. (That page is the 2nd link I posted.)

I have the same problem. I wear DiorShow Waterproof Mascara and I can never get it off. My friend told me about Vaseline!

Take a tissue and put some vaseline on it, close your eyes tight and wipe off your eyeliner and mascara. Takes about 1-2 wipes to get everything off (depending on how much mascara/eyeliner you're wearing) — and then just wash your face to get the vaseline off.

Simple and cheap!

use make up remover..maybe they are not the cheapest…and i used one that worked really well but it has a lot of oil in it..so i dont like it…but baby oil will work…and just wash ur face with soap or something will work…and its cheaper than baby oil
