how do I get my mascara to stop smearing?

mascara
clubthumb3 asked:

I use very high end products: dior show mascara and chanel mascara (waterproof).

it doesn't matter what I use - I put it on and within 1 hour of having it on my face it smears in my undereye area and I look like some kind of heroin addict.

I've had makeup professionally done and although it takes a little longer - it still happens. I'm getting married in august and I don't want to look horrible in all my pictures.

how do I stop this from happening?

mary kay's mascara is awesome because it doesn't smear or flake!

I sometimes had the same problem, but i am cheap kind of woman. I would buy the N.Y.C brand, Mary-Kate and Ashley, or the Wet N' Wild and it really didn't run too often, but on warm days when i would get kind hot it would. so one day I decided to put some concealer or cover up right underneath my eyes after I applied the mascara and I have never had a problem since! So I definitely suggest putting some cover up or concealer (preferably liquid cover up/concealer) right under your eyes, and not only does it work great, but it also covers up any dark circle hiding under there!! :-D

Good Luck!

I am so with you on that problem. There are a couple things you can try. One is silly- don't touch your eyes once you put on mascara. The second is to make sure you let your mascara totally dry before you blink. I know that sounds difficult but I usually blot my top lashes on a tissue before I close my eye for the first time after applying mascara. Another is to not wear mascara on your bottom lashes. That one will produce the most dramatic improvement.

Also, I am all for wearing quality makeup on your face. It is important to buy the best products and to spend the extra money when it comes to putting things on your skin. However, when I buy mascara, I only buy one kind: the award winning, it's been around forever for a reason Maybelline waterproof. I tried everything else, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Mac. This is the only mascara I have found that does not smudge, ruboff or bleed onto the delicate skin around your eyes.

Check it out–

You need to use thinner coats of mascara. It's not drying completely, and so it smears more. Use thinner coats.. no more than three coats, and do something else between coats, like applying lipstick or blush or picking up used q-tips or whatever.

Is it the mascara creating dark undereye circles or eyeliner? If you're using a liquid or semi-lliquid eyeliner (grease pencil consistency) get a liner brush and start using a complimentary color of eye shadow instead of the traditional eyeliner. You could also have oily skin around the eyes which can pull your makeup down. You can correct that with the use of eyeshadow bases. (I Like Lancome's concealer in a yellow tint to hide the actual dark circles I tend to get under my eyes when I've had no sleep)

Lancome also makes an phenomenal mascara called 'Definicils" which I have been and will probably continue to be in love with for a long long while.

I had a problem with that as well. I hate to use waterproof mascara too, even though that seemed to help. Finally I was introduced to an Avon mascara that's wash-off, waterproof. It really works. It' s very inexpensive. If you didn't want to try that then use an eyeshadow close to the same color as your skin. Apply it right under your bottom lashes. It works great too. Hope that this helps.

Just because they are high end products doesnt mean that they're the BEST and that they wont smear. I use covergirl lash exact or the proffessional lines that the sell. And to tell you the truth your not supposed to put mascara on your bottom lashes, but you can. Apply less. And CURL them. The eyelash curlers remove the excess.

I wear all MAC and Urban Decay, but I've found that the best mascara is Maybelline Full N' Soft Waterproof Mascara. I love it especially in the summer because I can get in the pool and it still won't smear. I love it..

Apply a little concealer under your eyes before you apply the mascara. It will help act as lip liner which will keep your mascara from smearing.

Are you using an oily foundation around your eye area? Try Arbonne! Their mascara has a built in primer. Great stuff. Also, be sure you use a bit of foundation and loose powder underneath your eye area before you apply the mascara. Are you using eye cream? arbonne.com When it asks for consultant ID, please use my ID# 10039014. Thanks!
