raspberrylemongirl asked:

So I've always had a problem with mascara since I have single eyelids and the mascara always ends up smudging on me during the day. No matter how much I try with the eyelash curler and different kinds of mascara, I still get raccoon eyes.
Does anyone know of a good kind of mascara that will work for us Asian girls with single eyelids?
[edit]
also, what is a good mascara that extends, curls, and thickens?

um always put a lot of eye liner and kaajal
before putting your mascara(buy maybelline)put lots of kaajal on your eyelashes(it reduces smudging)

try put on eye lash extension liquid before you coat your mascara. something like a primer to make ur mascara stay longer.

try deja vu mascara (the red color tube), maybelline a very trusted brand in mascara for ages! it won't go wrong. or if you have more budget, try lancome hynopsis.

also heat up ur curler with eye dryer, curl it, coat it with mascara one more time and re curl it when drier. it has great staying power! try it!!

i find that maybelline exact lash or something (the one with the comb) works the best and dries quickly. granted, im not asian so i dont know how well it will work, but you could just try to close your eyes for about 30+ seconds until it dries. also, if you want your eyes to look more open, try putting eyeliner on the bottom ONLY

for eye lash curlers, some of them in the stores don't even work
try:
Shu Uemura mini eyelash curler $17@ sephora

you should curl your eyelashes first . do not clamp too hard~! it causes your eyelashes to become brittle and they do not curl, but they actually get crimped and it leads to your eye lashes sticking straight out instead of a dramatic swoop up. The Shu Uemura curler is smaller than the usual eye lash curler, but that is a very good thing, it allows you to work on different sections of your eye lashes. not everybody's eye shape matches the shape of the regular sized eye lash curlers. You should lightly press the eye lash curler at the base and and lightly press as you work the curler up to the tip of the lash.

i also get bothered when my mascara smudges. if you want a mascara that doesn't smudge try:

Bourjois volume clubbing mascara $17 @ sephora

i have tried this product over and over again. it WORKS

Get a good eyelash curler, try Shu Uemura or Shiseido. I have been using my Shiseido curler for more than 5 yrs and i still love it. You can change the rubber of the curler by getting the re-fill. Curl your lashes from inside (nearest to lids), then middle, then the tip of the lashes to make the curl more natural.

Try ettusais, Shu Uemura or some Japanese brand water resistant mascaras. My ettusais mascara make my eyelashes curl the whole day. I used the have the same problem like you but now not anymore after using it. Water resistant mascaras will last longer than non water resistant mascara but it will need a good eye makeup remover cos they are harder to remove.

Hi, I'm a makeup artist at Sephora. My absolute favorite mascara is Blinc's Kiss Me Mascara.

It is the original mascara that was invented to form tiny water resistant “tubes” around your lashes rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and won't run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes.

Kiss Me Mascara adds volume and length to your lashes, giving you a radiant natural look that will last all day. Only when you are ready for removal, the tubes will effortlessly slide off your lashes into your hand without the use of a harsh makeup remover.

To remove, all you need is lots of warm water and gentle pressure, from your fingertips, a washcloth or water pressure (i.e. shower) and the tubes will slide off your lashes effortlessly. Upon removal you will actually see the tiny tubes in your hand!

Kiss Me Mascara has been clinically tested to be non-irritating making it ideal for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, and active people in search of a mascara whose look, hold and ease of removal is without compromise.

Here is a video that you can watch:

At Sephora stores, it is only availiable in black. They also have other colors: dark brown, medium brown, dark blue, dark puple, and dark green. I have the black and dark purple. I bought the dark purple online. I'm sure other fine department stores like Nordstrom also have it, or you can just order it online.

All of the product information was taken from Blinc's website.

Dior Diorshow Mascara is a great mascara too. My friend uses it and loves it. It guarantees long and thick eyelashes. It really makes your eyelashes curl without having to use an eyelash curler. Here's a link:

i love bourjois maxi mascara extreame volumising length mascara, with this they never clump together. i have tried all the mascaras you can think of and this is the best by far.

when choosing a mascara, consider the types of mascara and select one appropriate for your lashes and the occasion. you have a choice of lengthening, thickening, long-wearing, conditioning and waterproof formulas, among others. for day, you might decide to add length, while a night on the town may require a long-wearing or thickening formula. for me, mac mascaras are the best as i like to add length to my lashes.

you didnt mention the natural colour of your lashes? if you have blond or red lashes, opt for brown mascara. darker-lashed women can consider brown for a casual look, and black or brown-black for more pronounced or dramatic lashes.

when applying mascara a great tip is to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler, it will make your lashes look heaps longer. remove the wand from the tube in one pull. pumping the mascara will push air into the tube, potentially drying out the formula and introducing bacteria into it.

begin with the underside of your upper lashes, moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes. always hold the wand parallel to your eyelid. roll the brush slowly on the upward stroke to promote separation of the lashes.

allow the first coat of mascara to dry before applying the second coat in the same manner. use an eyelash comb to separate the wet lashes. also blot the lashes with tissue paper if necessary to remove excess mascara. use less mascara for the lower lashes. begin where the lashes meet the rim of the lower eyelid, and gently stroke downward. remove any stray mascara around the eye with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of eye makeup remover.

hope this helps
